  2. 1948- . Prince of the United Kingdom, heir to
  3. the British throne, and Prince of Wales since
  4. 1958 (invested 1969). He is the first-born
  5. child of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of
  6. Edinburgh. He studied at Trinity College,
  7. Cambridge, 1967-70, before serving in the
  8. Royal Air Force and Royal Navy. He is the
  9. first royal heir since 1659 to have an
  10. English wife, Lady Diana Spencer, who sadly
  11. died on 31st August 1997, daughter of
  12. the 8th Earl Spencer. They have two sons and
  13. heirs, William (1982-) and Henry (1984-).
  14. Prince Charles's concern for social and
  15. environmental issues has led to many
  16. self-help projects for the young and
  17. underprivileged, and he is a leading critic
  18. of unsympathetic features of contemporary
  19. architecture.
